The quote above captures the difference a scholarship can make in the life of a young student who otherwise might not have beeen able to attend college. This year in the 2013-14 MSU Dream Maker Campaign you have the opportunity to invest in a young person through a gift to the MSU Foundation's annual scholarship drive. The goal is to raise $70,00 and the need has never been more critical. In the midst of its third year in a row of record enrollment, MSU endeavors to keep up with the growth to strengthen the university. Financial support is key. More than 1,000 students are either on campus or taking classes online. Futures are being built. Do you remember what it was like to be an incoming freshman? It can be kind of scary, exciting and, in this economic environment, a bit uncertain as to how a student will make it work financially.
Help develop successful students and citizens.
As Mayville State University reaches out to prospective students with honor scholarships of $1,000 and a variety of other scholarships from $250 to full tuition, that scholarship, even a $250 scholarship and certainly a $1,000 scholarship, can really help the university compete for the best students, whether they are academic scholars or students who just need a little help financially. Last year over 250 students benefitted from help from donors who are investing in MSU and the students they help. Together we can help develop successful students and citizens of communities through North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota and the entire United States. Mayville State University graduates are second to none, thanks to the opportunity generous donors afford them. And for every student enrolled MSU becomes financially stronger too.

Tax benefits for donors
All gifts to the Dream Maker Campaign are tax-deductible. North Dakota residents can also make their gifts to a permanent endowment and their gifts will qualify them for a 40% North Dakota tax credit as well as a federal tax deduction on gifts of $5,000 or more, even if you don't itemize. Call Director of Development John J. Klocke at 701-788-4787 for more information on this option, and he'll send you an endowment kit by mail or email. All donors can make tax-free distributions from IRAs for this gift.
