The Computer Information Systems major is designed to prepare students for employment in a computer information systems environment. The major provides students with the knowledge, skills, techniques, and experiences essential for obtaining positions in information processing, applications programming and systems analysis and design. The Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree is designed to provide a flexible approach to those who have previously earned an A.S. or A.A.S. degree and now wish to further their studies for personal satisfaction or employment opportunity.
Mayville State offers a minor in Computer Information Systems which provides students with the knowledge, skills and techniques desirable for employment in a position in which the computer is utilized as a tool.
Here's what a current student has to say about the CIS program:
"I will graduate with a bachelor's degree in CIS. Mayville State University offers a small town community and small classes. This is the best university for anyone who wants one-on-one help from an instructor. At Mayville, I am not just a number in the crowd. This university, in my opinion, offers the best CIS program in the nation because they offer classes dealing with popular programming languages, web programming, database management, and network management. All of these classes have given me knowledge that will help me in the IT profession."
