Use this checklist as your guide to becoming admitted and successfully enrolling in Mayville State University’s Distance Education Programs. If you have questions about any step in the process, please contact the Office of Extended Learning at: 1-800-437-4104, ext: 34667 or ExtendedLearning@mayvillestate.edu.   

1. Apply for Admission and Register for Courses

The first step in becoming a Mayville State Distance Degree seeking student is to complete an online application at:  www.mayvillestate.edu A one-time $35 application fee is required, and you must have official academic transcripts sent directly to Mayville State University from all colleges or universities attended.  If you have completed less than 24 college-level credits, you must also provide your official high school transcript.

2. Submit Official Transcripts

You must submit official transcripts from all schools you have attended based on freshman or transfer admission requirements. Please have your transcripts mailed to: Admissions Office, Mayville State University, 330 Third Street NE, Mayville, ND 58257.

3. Apply for Financial Aid

To apply for federal and state financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and list Mayville State University (Title IV school code 002993) as one of your schools of choice. To receive top priority for grants and loans, submit your FAFSA by March 15 at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

4. Contact your Mayville State Distance Program Advisor

Before registering for classes, please contact your Distance Program Advisor. Students in all degree programs in the Devils Lake and Williston areas should contact Amanda Kuhn, Distance Program Coordinator at 701-662-1587. All other degree students should contact Connie Kaldor at 1-800-437-4104, Extension: 34721.  For more information on being an online or distance student at Mayville State, please review the Distance Student Handbook (Distance Student Handbook).

5. Register for Classes

After consulting your advisor, use the following instructions to register for online and distance courses with Mayville State, to register for collaborative courses with other NDUS institutions, and to order textbooks (“How Do I”).  You will also find instructions in this handout for viewing your course schedule and student account in Campus Connection. 

6. Watch for email from the Office of Extended Learning

Prior to the start of the semester, you will receive a number of important e-mails from the Office of Extended Learning concerning designating a proctor for exams, accessing your online classes in Moodle, accessing an optional online student orientation in Moodle, and other important information to get started with your classes.

Nondegree Seeking Students:

1. Register for Courses

The first step in becoming a Mayville State Distance Nondegree student is to locate the course(s) you plan to enroll.  You can find a schedule of online classes for the upcoming term at: https://www.mayvillestate.edu/Academics/DistanceOnlineLearning/Pages/DistanceCoursesOffered.aspx.  Then, you need to apply for admission by following the instructions listed at: https://www.mayvillestate.edu/Academics/DistanceOnlineLearning/Pages/DistanceCoursesOffered.aspx. A one-time $35 application fee is required.  Non-degree students are not required to submit official academic transcripts.  After you are admitted, you will be eligible to register for classes when pre-registration opens for upcoming terms in CampusConnection.

2. Order textbooks and view your student account

After registering for your courses, use the following instructions to order textbooks (“How Do I”).  You will also find instructions in this handout for viewing your course schedule and student account in Campus Connection.  For more information on being an online or distance student at Mayville State, please review the Distance Student Handbook (Distance Student Handbook).
